The National Photonics Initiative (NPI) is a collaborative alliance seeking to unite industry, academia and government to identify and advance areas of photonics critical to maintaining US competitiveness and national security.

The NPI is supported by founding members Optica (formerly OSA) and SPIE, and sponsors including the American Physical Society (APS), IEEE Photonics Society and Laser Institute of America (LIA). Opportunities exist for interested industry and academic organizations to show their support for the initiative.
