The NPI is a staunch advocate for increased investment in hands-on education and job training programs, expansion of federal investments supporting university and industry collaboration, and restoration of critical laboratory equipment and instrumentation funding. The preparedness of the American workforce in the physical sciences and engineering has become a matter of national security and economic competitiveness. Bridging the gap between education and the workforce has been a focus of the NPI’s engagement with both our academic and industry partners. And through visits to places like the University of Arizona and the University of Central Florida, policymakers are seeing first-hand the role of academia in positioning the United States as a global technology leader.
